YouTube fail
The song of the day (and yesterday, and probably tomorrow) is Et les mots croisés by Dan Mangan. There is no good video of it on YouTube. I haz sadz.

New Partner
A Will Oldham cover. I've been waking up with this song on my mind for years now, it seems. I've narrowed down my favourite lines to top three:
1. There's a black-tinted sunset with the prettiest of skies, lay back, lay back and rest your head on my thighs
2. I would not have moved if I knew you were here
3. There's a skirt in the bedroom that's pleasantly low.

To Be Young
Leafs won their opener yesterday. Woo! Also: it's beautiful outside. I should go to the island or something.

Don't Talk Down
Give me a break. Here, more music.
Sometimes a song needs to grow on you. I don't think I was crazy about this one when I first heard it, but ever since seeing it's flawless deployment in The Trotsky, I can't get it out of my head.

Collapse - Mutemath
Cheesy video, good song. I put this at the head of a "first songs on album" mix I made for someone. I'm probably just a sucker for ambient, 2 minute moodsetters. See Capture the Flag from You Forgot it in People, or Tautou from Deja Entendu. Fair warning, while this opening track is in league with those two, the follow up from the rest of the mutemath album is nowhere as good. Still, I couldn't get it out of my head as I was trying to get to sleep last night.

Lover's Spit
I've known this song for years, but it still manages to bubble to the surface on occasion. For me, it conjures up blurry memories of nights of drunkenness, and the blurrier friendships founded on those evenings.
